FIPV Antigen Rapid Test Cassette is a lateral flow immunochromatographic assay based on sandwich format. The test cassette has a testing window. The testing window has T (test) region and C (control) region. During testing, sample is applied into the sample well on the cassette. FIPV antigens, if present in serum or feces or ascites or secretions specimen, react with the pre-coated anti-FIPV antibodies in the test strip. The mixture then migrates upward on the membrane chromatographically by capillary action and reacts with anti-FIPV antibodies on the membrane in the test line region. If the specimen contains FIPV antigens, a colored line will appear in the test line region indicating a positive result. If the specimen does not contain FIPV antigens, a colored line will not appear in the test line region indicating a negative result. To serve as a procedural control, a colored line will always appear in the control line region indicating that proper volume of specimen has been added and membrane wicking has occurred.

1. Collect fresh feline feces (liquid part), ocular/ nasal secretions, serum, or ascites about 500μL(if possible) into the plastic tubes with buffer. It's better if different types of sample was available, mix all the samples well (total volume 500μL ) in the buffer tube.

Shake the tube sufficiently to mix them well.

2. Hold the dropper vertically and transfer 3 drops of extracted sample (approximately 120 μl) to the specimen well (S) of the test cassette, then start the timer. See illustration below.

3. Read the result in 15-20 minutes. Do not interpret results after 30 minutes.
